Every visit is special, but some carry a deeper meaning, and this one was truly one of those. In Bali, it meant so much to us to spend more time at the Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA), a place that holds a very special significance in Pelsbarn’s journey.
In many ways, this is where the inspiration first began. Seeing their amazing work up close years ago played a key role in shaping Pelsbarn’s mission to support shelter animals in need around the world. Returning now, with the support of our customers behind us, felt like a full circle moment.
Who They Are
The Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA) is a long-standing animal welfare organisation dedicated to improving the lives of animals across Bali.
Their work focuses on rescue, rehabilitation, education, and prevention, working closely within communities to reduce suffering and create long-term change. One of their most impactful programmes is to raise awareness of animal welfare in Bali, as well as their spay and neuter initiatives, which directly addresses the root cause of overpopulation and helps reduce the number of stray animals.
Through veterinary care, outreach, and community education, BAWA continues to create lasting change for animals and and the communities around them.
What We Donated
Thanks to the continued support of our Pelsbarn community, we were able to contribute both cozy products and direct financial support during our visit.
This included:
-
A cash donation to help fund spay and neuter programmes
This financial contribution helps support BAWA’s essential spay and neuter initiatives, which plays an extremely important role in controlling stray populations and improving long-term animal welfare in Bali.
Cooling beds and mats were donated to offer comfort, and relief to dogs on their healing journey, especially important in Bali’s heat, where cooling support can make all the difference.

Why It Matters
BAWA was one of the very first organisations to inspire our journey. Seeing their dedication to tackling overpopulation through education and sterilisation highlighted how meaningful, long-term change is created, not just through rescue, but through commitment and prevention.
Stray overpopulation in Bali remains a challenge, but spay and neuter programmes are key to changing that. Each procedure helps reduce future homelessness and gives more animals the opportunity for safer, healthier lives.
Visiting again, this time supported by our entire community, made the experience especially meaningful. It was a reminder of how far we’ve come and the impact we can create together.

How You Can Help
Every purchase with Pelsbarn helps make moments like this possible. Your support allows us to continue donating to organisations like Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA), as well as many others, funding vital programmes, and providing comfort to animals in need.
You can also help by supporting local and global rescues directly, spreading awareness about responsible pet ownership, and sharing the importance of sterilisation programmes in reducing stray populations.
Together, we can continue working toward a future where fewer animals suffer on the streets and more find safety, care, and love.
With Love,
Tania from Team Pelsbarn
