In March, we had the chance to visit Boracay Animal Adoption and Rescue Center (BAARC), a shelter on Boracay Island in the Philippines that goes above and beyond in its hands-on care for animals in need.
With the support of our wonderful community, we were able to donate Pelsbarn Harnesses that soon became part of something truly special. Fun beach walks, and moments of connection between the pups and their human friends walking alongside them.
It’s often the little moments that end up meaning the most.
Who They Are
BAARC is a 100% volunteer run shelter dedicated to saving, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned, neglected, and abused animals on the island.
Their mission is built on kindness, focused on delivering care, medical support, and a safe space for animals who would otherwise be left vulnerable and alone on the streets.
Founded in 2024, BAARC has been devoted to caring for dogs in need, supported by sponsorships and a passionate community of volunteers. Every day, their team shows up with compassion and determination. Rescuing, treating, and caring for each dog, while working toward the goal of safe, loving homes and greater awareness of responsible pet ownership.
What We Donated
We donated Harnesses that quickly became part of the dogs’ daily routine, used during beach walks with volunteers and the many tourists and locals who visit them. Being outside the shelter, even for a little while, helps the pups settle, feel more at ease, and slowly rebuild trust.
For them, it’s not just a walk, it’s a chance to feel free, take in the world, and just be in the moment.
Why It Matters
For shelter dogs, moments spent outside of their usual shelter life can open up something really special.
Walks help build confidence, reduce stress, and provide important mental and physical stimulation. They allow dogs to explore, engage with their surroundings, and interact with new people and other dogs in a positive way. The more positive experiences they have, the easier it becomes for them to connect with future forever families and transition into their new homes.
And most importantly, it gives them joy. A simple stroll along the beach can remind a dog what it feels like to just be a carefree dog again.
