The 4th of July is a time to think about freedom, courage, and the people who have made sacrifices for others. This year, we wanted to do something a little extra to mark the occasion, so we chose to support an organisation with a really meaningful vision for the future, bringing rescue dogs and military veterans together through companionship, care, and a shared sense of purpose.
For our annual 4th of July donation, we were so proud to support Decator’s Place (Mid Missouri Malamute Rescue).
Who They Are
Decator’s Place is dedicated to helping rescued Malamute’s, and is working toward a vision that would also support military veterans.
Through their Malamutes and Military initiative, their goal is to create a facility where veterans could receive support while helping rehabilitate and train rescue dogs. They will also assist in training rescue dogs to become emotional support animals for other veterans, helping extend the benefits of these connections to even more people.
Although this vision is still in development, the planned facility represents an exciting step toward creating a space where rescues and veterans could support one another.
It’s a very meaningful reminder of the possibilities that can happen when compassion, companionship, and community come together.
What We Donated
As part of our 4th of July donation, we sent Cooling Mats to help keep the dogs at Decator’s Place comfortable during warmer weather. This is especially important for these beautiful Malamutes, who are naturally suited to colder climates and can struggle in the heat.
Every dog deserves a cool, comfortable place to rest, especially those who are recovering, settling into new surroundings, or waiting for what comes next. We hope these Cooling Mats give the pups a little extra comfort during the warmer months, especially as Malamutes aren’t naturally used to the heat.
Alongside the products, we were also so excited to donate $2,001.00, made possible by our amazing community. This contribution will help support the development of Decator’s Place’s kennels and facility, bringing their vision one step closer to reality.
Why It Matters
Rescue work is about more than finding dogs new homes. It’s about giving them the care, patience, and support they need to feel safe and begin again.
The vision behind Decator’s Place goes beyond creating a home for rescue dogs. They hope to build a place where veterans and dogs can find companionship and purpose alongside one another, with veterans helping rehabilitate and train the dogs as they work toward brighter futures together.
Turning this vision into reality takes time, dedication, and a caring community. Our contribution is one small part of that journey, and we’re grateful to help support the development of a facility with such meaningful goals.
