I never planned on starting a dog brand.
It started the day I visited a dog shelter and saw something I couldn’t forget.
This is my personal story.

I'm Dan, and founded a luxury dog brand with my fiance Faith in 2021.
As a child I found dogs are the most loyal souls on this planet.
I knew that connection personally with my dog, Lissy.
She was my shadow, my comfort, a source of unconditional love that was my emotional anchor.
As a young kid growing up, my dog Lissy, gave me the feeling I was getting seen.
''Just by looking at me. I felt unconditional love and could not imagine the day I would lose her.''
And yes, it happened last year….
My heart broke
A huge passion for dogs is part of who I am. It always has been.
But in 2021, a trip around the world changed everything.
I truly saw the reality: countless dogs on the streets and in shelters so full, their quiet, hopeful eyes told you they’d almost given up.
Seeing those innocent souls behind those bars, it just broke my heart.
In that moment, my fiancé Faith and I made a promise.
Create beautiful dog beds while helping dogs in need.
Faith is an interior designer with an incredible eye for detail and comfort.
We decided to combine that eye for design with our deepest passion.
Helping dogs live more comfortable lives.
The idea was simple:
When someone buys a Pelsbarn bed for their own dog, it also helps a shelter dog who is still waiting for their forever home.
A dog your own dog will never meet, but who deserves the same safety & comfort.
Early sketches for the first Pelsbarn dog bed
We started in our living room, where Fay, with her design background, began sketching the first beds that our dog Maya would approve of.
Maya is our rescue dog and quickly became the heart of the brand.
We adopted her after a rough start, and she quickly became part of our family.

What started in our living room with a few sketches and one rescue dog slowly started growing into something bigger than we ever imagined.
At first, it was just friends and a small group of dog parents who believed in the idea.
A simple idea:
That by buying a bed for their own dog, they could also help a dog in a shelter.
Little by little, more people joined the mission.
And together we started helping more dogs than we ever thought possible.

With the help of our community we donated $6,900 to American Humane Society to support dogs in need across the United States.
128 Pelsbarn beds delivered to a local animal shelter in Aruba that urgently needed help.
Together with our customers we donated $7176,00 to K9s For Warriors to support service dogs that help veterans.
